KEMETIC YOGA: PHILOSOPHY OF ENLIGHTENMENT!

In AESTHETIC VALUES, CULTURE, DIASPORA TALK, LIFESTYLE on August 5, 2008 at +00:00.18.31.

“And upon his return to Greece, they gathered around and asked, ‘tell us about this great land of the Blacks called Ethiopia.’ And HERODOTUS said, “There are two great Ethiopian nations, one in Sind (India) and the other in Egypt.”

What does Kemetic mean? It means Black. It is derived from the 4th son of Noah: Ham. The etymology of the word means Black. It comes from the root word KMT in the original language of the Ancient Egyptians. Egypt is a Greek word that means “land of the blacks”; or “burnt faces.” KMT spelled without the vowels, in ancient Egypt, is the accurate term these people referred to themselves as: {kamau; kamites, kemetians, chamites etc}.

What does Yoga mean? The literal meaning of the word is “Yoke” or “Link.”  Like to link or yoke back to the boundless source of the Universe, the essence and creation. In essence, it means to become one with the Creator, Universe, The All or GOD.

“The philosophy of YOGA as espoused by the ancient Egyptians incorporated no less than four words whose exact meanings are equal to the Indian word “YOGA” which means {spiritual union}. The four hieroglyphic symbols that mean yoga in Egyptian philosophy are “NEFER“, “SEMA“, “ANKH“, and “HETEP.”

The hieroglyph “NEFER or “NETER” is expressed by the union of the trachea & heart. It symbolizes that which is the the most beautiful thing, the highest good, and the greatest achievement.

SEMA” represents the union of two lungs & the trachea, symbolizes that the union of the higher & lower SELF leads to the ONE (GOD).

ANKH” symbolizes the union of the cross (male) and circle (female) aspects of oneself, leading to the transformation into an androgynous being (GOD). Thus, the two become One!

HETEP” means Supreme Peace, the final abode of all who satisfy the desire of their soul: Union w/ itself!

In ancient KMT, they had two forms of writing and speaking. Demotic and hieroglyphic, the first was used by everyone in the society, whereas, the latter was only used by the royalty, nobles and priests. The word hiero-glyph means literally “sacred writing.” Which explains why only a hand full of people knew how to read & write it. For it was reserved for temple writings, magic spells of protection, funerary reliefs, and written on sarcophagi.

What are symbols & what role do they play in communicating mystic truths? A symbol is an object that explains the un-explainable, defines the un-definable, and signifies the un-signifiable.

GODDESS SEKHET SEATED ON THRONE

GODDESS SEKHET SEATED ON THRONE

According to the Greek philosopher Dionysius the Aropagite, “If anyone suggests that it is disgraceful to fashion base images of the Divine and most Holy orders, it is sufficient to answer that the most Holy mysteries are set forth in two modes: one by means of similar and sacred representations akin to their nature, and the other to unlike forms designed with every possible discordance.

Discordant symbols are more appropriate representations of the Divine because the human mind tends to cling to the physical form of representation believing for example that the Divine are “golden beings or shining men flashing like lightning.” But lest this error befall us, the wisdom of the venerable sages leads us through disharmonious dissimilitudes, not allowing our irrational nature to become attached to those unseemly images. Divine things may not be easily accessible to the unworthy, nor may those who earnestly contemplate the Divine symbols dwell upon the forms themselves as final truth.”

As a practitioner for over ten years this way of life is a  good way to exercise, eat healthier, learn the art of meditation, and generally increase your overall understanding of oneself & the universe. For it is said that “KNOWLEDGE OF SELF IS THE BASIS OF ALL KNOWLEDGE.”

In the words of the Egyptians (Kemites) in one of there many proverbs: “The word which appeared as a pillar of flame out of the darkness is the Son of GOD, born of the mystery of the mind. The name of the word is REASON. Reason is the offspring of Thought and reason shall divide the light from the darkness & establish TRUTH in the midst of the waters.”
