Lebron James isn’t a business man; HE IS A BUSINESS MAN….

In HOT BUTTON TOPIC, NBA, PHILOSOPHY OF SPORT, SPORTS, WORD ON THE STREET on July 11, 2010 at UTC.31.31.

Dan Gilbert has the right, but he doesn’t have the business saavy to know better! I was always taught you “PRAISE in public, & you PUNISH in private.” Everyone agrees that his letter was emotional & reminds one of a lover dumped before prom, or a wedding etc.

Let me hip you to why Gilbert is upset at Lebron James. He, James broke from convention. He didn’t opt for the $30 million the Cavs could have paid him. In fact, he made a move that is inconceivable, he left $, his team, his status & opted for a combonation of this years “dream team.”

He is not a business man, Lebron James is a BUSINESS MAN! He knows what this game is all about-WINNING!! PERIOD. All the Heat (no pun intended) he has endured the last 2 years while having the best record yet still can’t capitalize with the Finals victory that Cavs fans & organization want so badly. He decided that the best path to a victoy is in Miami along side Team USA mates Chris Bosh & D. Wad3!!

He made the right call. Why? Because the Heat are the only other team in the last 5 years to win it all & still has the player that won it for their team. WADE won that ring, despite SHAQ being on the team, he was ineffective. The Celtics won in 2008, but Lebron wasn’t going to Bean town.

So, the only logical choice was MIAMI from a purely BUSINESS standpoint. True followers of the game know this was the only choice on the table for the KING. The CAVS organization is in turmoil. Danny Ferry GM, resigned last  month. With the draft & thje biggest free agency in history on the horizon he walked away. WHY?

We don’t know that yet, but his resignation couldn’t sit well with Lebron JAmes, because Ferry was consistently trying to find pieces to go around James. With him out htere was a vacuum. Who was Cleveland trying to sign to try & keep James. * Crickets* No One.

They had 21 million coming off the books with Shaq’s free agency & his hefty contract ending. Was there any movement to try & get Amar’e? No! Boozer-NO! Bosh, yes, but he was never seriously conmsidering North East Ohio, when he has South Beach with Sun, Fun & uber competitor Dwyane Wade ru8nning thangs….

Bosh, like James made the choice they could, if they really wanted WIN NOW!!!

Dan Gilbert has no one to blame, but himself. He dropped the ball, & did it as the most auspicious time in CAVS history. 2010 Free Agency. Teams have been positioning themselves for the last 24 months.

Riley, called it the triple play. Adding 2 All-Stars to compliment his franchise player in WADE!

These entrepreneurs made a POWER MOVE, that is unprecedented, & no one outside of Florida saw it coming. LOL. This plan was conceived back in 2006/07., when the players all decided to take a 3 year deal & hold their respective teams to the fire. BY holding there impending departure over the heads of management.

Toronto, MIami, Cleveland & Phoenix knew what it had to do in order to retain their franchise players. So, if the management didn’t get it done, then it’s disingeniuous to blame the players for managements failure. Gilbert will be remembered for allowing James to leave town. In truth, he chased him out of town.

He fired Coach Brown, whom James adored. Did James approve or disapprove? Was that a factor in him choosing to leave? I wouldn’t be surprised. Byron Scott was hired, but he’s a rookie head coach. He will need time to learn the culture of the CAVS. James didn’t have time to wait.

The front office personnel moves showed that the CAVS organization was in a state of flux, transition & utter chaos. Why would James stay there when South Beach had a great front office with Riley running day-to-day operations as President & General Manager. An owner willing to spend to get talent on the roster.

The decision was clear, Miami was/is the best fit for James. Those who have criticized James need to look in the mirror. They are complicit in his departure or non-signing with their respective teams. Miami is a lot of things  but with Alonzo Mourning, a former player over “player personnel” you have a guy with a heart the size of Florida.

Mourning is always in the community giving back. He went to Haiti to help that country recover from the devastating earthquake. Zo, & the HEAT organization really impressed a lot of NBA players such as Rudy GAY (Memphis Grizzlies). The HEAT don’t believe in community outreach, they practice, implement & execute outreach! It’s genuine, not a photo op.

Miami was/is the real deal before this historic signing of Bosh & James. Now, thi city, team has the player talent to match their oversized desire to lift a city & state to unprecedented heights!

LET’S GO HEAT! LET’S GO HEAT!! LET’S GO HEAT!! RED & BLACK ATTACK…..

RETREAT & NO SURRENDER!!!!

LEBRON JAMES ISN’T A BUSINESSMAN. RATHER, HE’S A BUSINESS MAN!!!

READ GILBERT’S LETTER BELOW  & SEE WHY JAMES HIMSELF HAS SAID THAT HE KNOWS HE’S MADE THE RIGHT DECISION!!

“Dear Cleveland, All Of Northeast Ohio and Cleveland Cavaliers Supporters Wherever You May Be Tonight;

“As you now know, our former hero, who grew up in the very region that he deserted this evening, is no longer a Cleveland Cavalier.

“This was announced with a several day, narcissistic, self-promotional build-up culminating with a national TV special of his “decision” unlike anything ever “witnessed” in the history of sports and probably the history of entertainment.

LeBron James: Clearly not the object of Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert’s affection. (AP)

“Clearly, this is bitterly disappointing to all of us.

“The good news is that the ownership team and the rest of the hard-working, loyal, and driven staff over here at your hometown Cavaliers have not betrayed you nor NEVER will betray you.

“There is so much more to tell you about the events of the recent past and our more than exciting future. Over the next several days and weeks, we will be communicating much of that to you.

“You simply don’t deserve this kind of cowardly betrayal.

“You have given so much and deserve so much more.

“In the meantime, I want to make one statement to you tonight:

“I PERSONALLY GUARANTEE THAT THE CLEVELAND CAVALIERS WILL WIN AN NBA CHAMPIONSHIP BEFORE THE SELF-TITLED FORMER ‘KING’ WINS ONE”

“You can take it to the bank.

“If you thought we were motivated before tonight to bring the hardware to Cleveland, I can tell you that this shameful display of selfishness and betrayal by one of our very own has shifted our “motivation” to previously unknown and previously never experienced levels.

“Some people think they should go to heaven but NOT have to die to get there.

“Sorry, but that’s simply not how it works.

“This shocking act of disloyalty from our home grown “chosen one” sends the exact opposite lesson of what we would want our children to learn.  And “who” we would want them to grow-up to become.

“But the good news is that this heartless and callous action can only serve as the antidote to the so-called “curse” on Cleveland, Ohio.

“The self-declared former “King” will be taking the “curse” with him down south. And until he does “right” by Cleveland and Ohio, James (and the town where he plays) will unfortunately own this dreaded spell and bad karma.

“Just watch.

“Sleep well, Cleveland.

“Tomorrow is a new and much brighter day….

“I PROMISE you that our energy, focus, capital, knowledge and experience will be directed at one thing and one thing only:

“DELIVERING YOU the championship you have long deserved and is long overdue….

Dan Gilbert
