The Boston Celtics recieved their championship rings tonight. The NBA season opened tonight with a marquee matchup between Eastern conference playoff teams–Boston versus Cleveland. However, th4e Cleveland Cavaliers skipped the ring ceremony of their nemesis.

“I didn’t know they were invited,” Celtics coach Doc Rivers joked before the game. Indeed, they weren’t because Lebron James said his team had no place watching them collect hardware because they weren’t Celtic fans, instead they wee in their locker room preparing for the game. Still, the night was extremely emotional for players & coaches alike on the Celtics.

“Because in this game, you have players say they’re playing for the ring,” Stern said. “And here you are, a part of fulfilling the goal of every player. “Once they have it, they have a sense of fulfillment they’ve never had before.”

Pierce, the Finals MVP was crying during the whole ceremony. Not surprising, he’s been there the longest when the Celtics were in the basement in the Eastern conference. Not to mention, his near death experience being stabbed multiple times at a nightclub incident early in his career.

Now, he stood justified with his MVP trophy and bling bling that is the envy of every NBA player in the league. Though, there can only be ONE. The 2007-2008 NBA champions are the Boston Celtics.
