SUNS ACQUIRE PG FROM EURO LEAGUE 2 BACK UP NASH

In HOT BUTTON TOPIC, INTERNATIONAL NEWS, NBA, SPORTS on August 13, 2008 at UTC.54.31.

6″4′ 22 year old Slovenian point guard Goran Dragic whose draft rights were acquired on draft night from the San Antonio Spurs.

Yet, the point guard must negotiate a buyout from his Spanish team Tau Ceramica before he can join the Suns. Reports say that he’s had to haggle with at least two European teams to get his release. Dragic is expected to back up Nash.

“One of Dragic’s American representatives, Rade Filipovich, joined his representative in Spain, Quique Villalobos, a week ago to begin working out a deal. Complicating matters is that Dragic’s rights were technically owned by Union Olimpija in his hometown of Ljubljana, and he was on loan to Tau. Dragic had to work out a buyout figure that would satisfy both teams.”

Wow and I thought the NBA was Draconian & slave-like. This guy was reportedly “on loan” from one team to the next. No respect!

This story has been full of intrigue considering there have been mixed reports from the guard while he was overseas. Last report, “I have spoken with my manager and the people at Tau, and they all think it’s better for me to stay here, and so do I. That comment apparently was from his team in Spain using old quotes in place of newer ones.

Damn, sounds like some counter intelligence and propaganda, all this just to play in the NBA. I hope its worth it…
