ALL WILLIAMS, ALL THE TIME @ THE ALL ENGLAND LAWN CLUB!

In HOT BUTTON TOPIC, INTERNATIONAL NEWS, PHILOSOPHY OF SPORT, SPORTS, TENNIS, WORD ON THE STREET on July 5, 2009 at UTC.59.31.

The All-American Final at Wimbledon is almost to be expected. Venus Williams has one 4 titles there, as recent as the last two years. Serena has won 2 since 2000. Only two other champions have won there this century & decade besides the Williams sisters.

“There’s nothing like winning a title with your sister,” said Serena, who has won 11 major singles titles. “It’s really a good feeling.”

Its safe to say they dominate on grass. They dominate all competition. Venus & Serena won the doubles title last year too. As a doubles pair they are the toughest competitors playing. No one wants to see these two bronze goddess’ glaring back at them across the net.

“One out of two’s not bad,” Venus said. “I really wanted to win the singles, but they’re two separate events. If I won the singles and not the doubles, it’s still not the same.”

All Williams, All the time seems to be the standard lately. The American final culminating on the 4th of July is must see tv. In fact, you could call it All-Williams Saturday.

Serena added the women’s doubles title to her take at this year’s tournament, teaming with big sister Venus to beat Rennae Stubbs and Samantha Stosur of Australia 7-6 (4), 6-4. It’s their fourth Wimbledon title together, part of their haul of nine Grand Slam women’s doubles championships.”

Steve “Air’ McNAir

In HOT BUTTON TOPIC, NFL, PHILOSOPHY OF SPORT, SPORTS, WORD ON THE STREET on July 5, 2009 at UTC.38.31.

Steve McNair former quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens & the Houston/Tennessee Oilers/Titans was found dead today. Reports claim that he died from a gunshot wound to the head.

“When police officers arrived in response to that call, they found two individuals who had been shot to death inside the residence,”

McNair played in the NFL for 13 seasons, his climax coming in 2000 at the Super Bowl against ‘the greatest show on turf’ the St. Louis Rams. He came within one yard of tying the game and sending it into overtime, though with no timeouts left the clock expired before he could lead his team back to tie the game.

I don’t think there was any other QB with his toughness. He has been known to play with cracked ribs & a bruised sternum. Injuries that would send mere mortals to the infirmarySteve McNair

Tough as nails McNair epitomized a players player mentality on the grid iron. He was as intimidating on offense as Ray Lewis was on defense. Can you imagine those two giving pre-game speeches

“There are persons who were around the complex today, visitors, who have been taken to headquarters for questioning, just to see what they know, what they may have seen,”
